The Advanced Welding. Shipfitting & Manufacturing program is a multifaceted program that includes training in maritime welding & shipfitting and advanced computer-aided design and manufacturing. Our welding facility was designed with help of our industry partners at Electric Boat and is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment. This program offers students opportunities for advanced training off-campus at the New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) and/or the Westerly Education Center (WEC, a CCRI satellite campus). Industry mentors from Electric Boat provide monthly classroom support, job prospects, and internship connections. Local businesses also meet with students to offer career mentoring in career trends, job training, and internships. Career exploration is an important part of the program and will incorporate guest speakers and field trips to various businesses and post-secondary training sites. Students in the advanced senior program may be eligible for off-campus internships.
Students are eligible for membership in the Career and Technical Student Organization, SkillsUSA, and can participate in local and national competitions
