The Advertising, Marketing, and Design program introduce students to graphic communication technology in print production, design, advertising, and marketing. Students participate in theory and performance-based activities providing students first-hand knowledge of graphic design using multimedia formats such as design software Adobe Suite, Photoshop, and InDesign, as well as production skills in silk screening, and lithography. Students learn to use creative expression to design, market, and produce merchandise using state-of-the-art equipment. Students are encouraged to participate in local design competitions such as SkillsUSA.
Students can receive a .5 art and/or .5 tech credit in any of the above courses in addition to elective credit.
Students can earn the following credentials:
- Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation (GAERF) PrintEd certification
- Adobe Software certification
- In Design Software certification
- OSHA 10 certification
This program is a component of the Art, A/V technology, and Communications cluster and focuses on careers in design, production, exhibition, performance, and publishing multimedia content. Examples of careers associated with this career field are Graphics and Printing Equipment Operator, Lithographer, Computer Typography and Composition Equipment Operator, Desktop Publishing Specialist, Web Page Designer, Advertising Designer or Specialists, Social Media Marketer, Interior, and Spatial Designer, Architect, Multimedia Specialist, Animator, Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Printmaker, Production Designer, Theater/Television/Film.
