Automotive, Marine and Diesel Technology

The automotive program is accredited by the National Automotive Technician’s Education Foundation (NATEF) and implements the NATEF curriculum for Automotive Technology through Electude web-based online curriculum.   Practical theory and applied learning combine to reinforce concepts in foundational skills to more advanced concepts and core proficiencies.  Students receive safety training in Safety Prevention and Pollution and OSHA 10 and practice their skills through experiential learning in our fully operational automotive shop.

Students can earn the following certifications:

  • Mobile Air Conditioning Society 609 (MACS) A/C Refrigerant Certification (MACS)
  • Safety, Prevention, and Pollution 2 (SP2)
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Ford Factory Training Certification (ACE, Automotive Career Exploration)
  • Automotive Service Excellence  (ASE)
  • Certified Automotive Information Specialist (CAIS)

Students who successfully complete the Automotive program will receive a math-related credit for their fourth-year required math.

The Automotive, Marine, and Diesel Technology program can prepare students for careers in  Electronic Equipment Installation and Repair, Automotive Service Technician, Automobile, Bus/Truck, Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Aviation Mechanics, Mobile Equipment Maintenance and Repair, Diesel Engine Specialists, and Aerospace Engineer.

Recommended Courses:  

  • Technical Physics
  • Small Business Management

Students are encouraged to take Technical Physics in 9th or 10th grade to prepare them for applied concepts and skills in a working environment - Semester 90 Minute Block Every Other Day

Senior students in good academic standing may participate in an off-campus Work-Based internship

Industry Partner:  Flood Ford

Work-Based Learning:  School-Based Enterprise, Internship

Post Secondary Partners:  New England Institute of Technology, University of Northwestern Ohio

Career & Tech Student Organization:  SkillsUSA
